Rebecca Vittetoe
Extension Field Agronomist
About Me
I am an Extension Field Agronomist serving southeast Iowa. My work is centered on helping farmers, landowners, and agricultural professionals make better decisions through practical, research-based agronomy.
I believe the best solutions come from combining science with real-world field experience. That is why a significant part of my time is spent in the field, working directly with farmers.

My Work in the Field
Conducting on-farm research and field measurements.
My day-to-day work involves visiting farms, walking fields, and working one-on-one with producers. I assist with identifying crop growth stages, diagnosing pest and disease issues, and evaluating nutrient deficiencies.
I primarily work with corn and soybean production systems, focusing on improving productivity while maintaining long-term sustainability.
Sustainable Farming
I am particularly interested in the role of cover crops and how they can improve soil health, reduce erosion, and enhance nutrient cycling.
These efforts are important not only for farm productivity but also for environmental protection and creating resilient agricultural operations.

Education and Outreach
I organize and lead extension programs such as field days and workshops. These programs are designed to help farmers improve their skills in field identification and decision-making.
Leading on-field education and training sessions.
Collaborating with farmers to find real-world solutions.
Working with Farmers
What I value most is the relationship with farmers. Listening to their challenges and working together to find solutions is at the heart of my approach. I see my role as a partner in the decision-making process.
